A Visit to Dazaifu Tenman-gū, Fukuoka Prefecture.
It is a Shinto shrine in Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It is built over the grave of Sugawara no Michizane (845–903) and is one of the main shrines dedicated to Tenjin, the deified form of Michizane, a gifted student who composed many poems dedicated to his favorite plum trees.

Fireworks in Hirakata
About 7 minutes video of the 30 minutes annual fireworks in Hirakata-shi on 2023/09/17. It happened along the Yodogawa river. Thousands of people came to look at the show.

Sakura 2023
This year Sakura came earlier a bit eveywhere in Japan. Here is a short video taken while going by train to the botanical garden of Kisaichi. Before arriving at Kozu, there is a beautiful long line of cherry trees.

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium - Dolphin Show
In the big park around the aquarium is an outdoor theater to watch a free Dolphin Show, 5 times a day. Here is a video taken during one of the shows. The performance is done by Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins and false killer whales.

Oharano Jinja
Oharano Jinja is in a Kyoto mountain suburb, a green retreat and a peaceful break from the regular Kyoto crowds. There are nice forest trails to walk in the 83,000 square meter forest property.

Osaka Illuminage 2023
On a cold night we went to Osaka and before going to a nice Italian restaurant we stopped at Nishinomaru Garden for a festival of lights in the Osaka castle park.

Autumn 2022
This video was made in Ninose, 2 train stations before Kurama in the north of Kyoto, where we visited the gardens, Haku-Ryu-En, famous for its moss and colored leaves in autumn and cherry flowers in spring.

Walking around Shirakoma Lake

A visit to Toba and around Mie Prefecture.
In July 2022, we went for few days to Mie Prefecture. We stayed at Toba Hotel International. Toba is a small city located on the northeastern tip of Shima Peninsula, it is facing Ise Bay and the area is famous for oysters and cultured pearls.

Shodoshima Island
We visited for few days in May 2022. It is one of the rare places in Japan where they produce Olive oil. Beautiful Olive park and gardens to visit. It is famous as well for its soy sauce. It is a small island to enjoy by car or bicycle.

Cherry Blossom in Haradani-en Garden, Kyoto
Haradani-en garden is located on top of a steep hill above Kinkaku-ji Temple in the north west of Kyoto. We visited on April 7th 2022, it was truly beautiful. Flowers everywhere and birds singing... a unique and really nice garden worth the visit.

We visited this shrine in Kyoto in March 2022. It is famous for its plum trees garden blooming in March. We visited it once during the day and few days later we came again during the night when they light up candles in the trees.

An evening visit to Kodai-ji Temple in Kyoto
In the fall, some temples in Kyoto light up their temple and garden. It gives a different feeling to visit in the late evening. We visited Chion-in and Kodai-ji on two evenings of November 2021. Here is a video of our visit to Kodai-ji and some photos taken in both temples.

October and November 2021 in Tofuku-ji Temple, Kyoto
It is a famous Zen temple, established in the Kamakura period by Kujo Michie. This temple has maintained its Zen architecture since the Middle Ages, and as the main Rinzai sect temple, can boast a magnificent Doto Graran complex, the only one of its kind in Kyoto.

Arashiyama, Kyoto, Train ride and Rickshaw ride.
We went for a train ride with the Torokko line and after we took a rickshaw ride in the streets of Arashiyama.

A visit to Sanzen-in Temple in Ohara, Kyoto
The Ohara area is the birthplace of Shoryo (Buddhist sutra chanting) and is known as a sacred spot... We had a matcha tea with a sweet in the temple watching Shuheki-en Garden... great tea time and good meditation.

The Kyoto Imperial Palace
The Kyoto Imperial Palace (Kyoto Gosho) was the residence of the Japanese emperors until 1869, when the capital was moved to Tokyo during the Meiji Restoration. The park around the Imperial Palace is immense, it feels like the central park of Kyoto.

Sakura Walk in Yodo River Park
Yodo River Park is considered one of the best spot to see sakura in Japan. It is 10 minutes walk from Iwashimizu Hachimangu, station of the Keihan line.
We went there on March 31st 2021 on a gorgeous blue sky day.

Walking the Philosopher's Path in Kyoto
We walked on this path on April 1st 2021 on a sunny and warm day. We loved it... It is a touristic landmark of the northeast of Kyoto, and normally it sees a lot of people coming to walk its trail.

A Little Bit of Kyoto in Spring
Spring time is really beautiful in Japan, the temperature is very nice and it makes it easy to walk around and stroll along the river in Kyoto.

Nijo Castle in Kyoto
Filmed on April 2nd 2021. During our visit, the central part was totally not visible because under restoration, we just filmed what we could while walking around. It was not permitted to film within the palace.

A Small Bird Feeding on Flowers.
March 6th, 2021... Unexpectedly I filmed a cute little bird (a Warbling white-eye (Zosterops japonicus) - Mejiro in Japanese　めじろ) eating the nectar of flowers... and some of the first flowers we encountered on our daily walks.

Fushimi-Inari 2021 - Going all the way up to Mount Inari
Feb. 22, 2021. We decided to walk all the way up to Mount Inari and pass all the gates. It was a beautiful and sunny day, there was more people this time than when we went in September 2020. You need to prepare yourself for climbing a lot of steps. 2 hours round trip summarized in a 5 minutes video.

A train ride in Japan
Filmed in August 2020. Trains in Japan are very convenient, on-time and clean. No trafic, no hassle.

A Visit to Kennin-ji temple in Kyoto
Filmed in September 2018. Kennin-ji is the oldest zen temple in Kyoto. It has been founded by Yousai in 1202. It belongs to the Zen Rinzai tradition.
